As mandated by Governor Wolf and the State Veterinarian's office we are able to see patients with urgent and essential medical needs only. Due to the recent extension of this mandate and the public health significance of our location in Allegheny County, this care will now include providing vaccinations for patients that are immediately due or currently overdue for their Rabies vaccine. It will also include seeing puppies and kittens for all core vaccine boosters and their initial Rabies vaccination.
In order to continue providing these limited but essential services, we need to take precautions to maintain the health and safety of our staff. Based on the most recent recommendations of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA), we are asking that clients do not enter the building unless absolutely necessary.
If you have a scheduled appointment, please call when you arrive and a technician will be out shortly to escort your pet into the clinic. We will get a brief history at your vehicle, examine your pet in the clinic, and communicate by phone regarding any recommended treatment plan.
If you are picking up a prescription, please pull into the parking spot closest to the clinic entrance and call when you arrive. Someone will be out shortly with your prescription. Please have your payment ready if you have not already paid over the phone.
There are some medications that we stock in limited supply and can only be refilled for 30 days. The most efficient way to request a refill is by emailing: WEXVET10309@gmail.com or texting us at (724) 935-5911 with your pet’s name, the medication requested, the quantity requested, and your contact information. Please allow 24 hours for us to process a refill request during the week, 48 hours on weekends. If you prefer home delivery, we have an online pharmacy option available on our website.
In addition, we have temporarily begun offering Telemedicine Consults to our clients. Ideally, most medical conditions are best addressed through a direct examination of your pet. However, given our current limitations, we are offering Telemedicine Consults as a potential alternative to physically bringing your pet into the clinic. This service is for existing patients only and may be declined on a case by case basis at the discretion of our doctors.
The Telemedicine Consult is accomplished through a photo or video submission to our email or text line at our office. The initial consult is $55 and if necessary, a discounted follow-up exam fee of $45 if the pet requires an examination in our office within a month of the consult. We will do our best to provide a same day response but please allow 24 hours for a doctor to review the situation and case history. Some examples of conditions that could potentially be managed by a Telemedicine Consult:
General questions and prescription requests can be emailed to WEXVET10309@gmail.com
We appreciate your understanding during these challenging times. Again, we are making these changes to keep our staff, clients and community safe.
